See What Happened When Hurricane Ike Struck Galveston on Sept 10, 2008.
One end of Galveston Island at Beachtown, survived with barely a scratch. While the rest of Galveston was leveled by Hurricane Ike’s storm surges of 20 feet or more, Beachtown survived because the houses are built by design, to
withstand flood and wind damage.
‘Fortified construction’ is the reason—all materials used in the houses built at Beachtown are resistant to storm and wind. See the windows covered with J&L Shutters (in video).
